Product Care

To prolong the lifespan of your new garment(s) it is important you look after it. Please see our care instructions below:

100% COTTON & COTTON/LINEN BLEND SHIRTS

• Machine wash at 40 ºC, removing any non-integral collar stiffeners

• Wash colours separately

• Never put a white shirt in a coloured wash

• To avoid fading, use a colour protect detergent when washing coloured/patterned shirts

• Fabric conditioner will make ironing easier

• For stains or marks, try spot cleaning before putting it in the wash

• Stain remover will also help

• Do not tumble dry and iron shirt when slightly damp if possible

100% COTTON NON-IRON SHIRTS

• Machine wash at 40 ºC, removing any non-integral collar stiffeners

• Always wash colours separately

• Never put a white shirt in a coloured wash

• To avoid fading, use a colour protect detergent when washing coloured/patterned shirts

• Fabric conditioner will help ease wrinkles

• For stains or marks, try spot cleaning before putting it in the wash.

• Stain remover will also help

• Remove from washing machine, place on hanger and dry naturally.

• Remaining creases will disappear once the shirt has been worn for 10-15 minutes

• Alternatively, after your washing cycle finishes, pop them into the tumble dryer for a few minutes – to shake out the washing creases

• Five to ten minutes should do the trick

SUITS & TIES

• Dry clean only

• Let your dry cleaners know about stains or marks (and what made them) so they can treat them correctly

• Suits made from wool can be damaged by harsh chemicals used in dry-cleaning – so limit to a few times a year

• Hang your suit on a wooden hanger – this helps retain the shoulder shape

• An occasional steam will do your suit good

• Either use the steam setting on your iron or hang it in the bathroom while you shower

CHINO TROUSERS & SHORTS

• Machine wash at 40 ºC

• Always wash similar colours together

• Never put white items in a coloured wash

• Fabric conditioner will make ironing easier

• If possible, avoid tumble drying as it can cause shrinkage

• Do not over iron or have iron temperature too high as this will cause shine

POLOS & RUGBY SHIRTS

• Always wash similar colours together

• Never put white items in a coloured wash

• Fabric conditioner will make ironing easier

• If possible, avoid tumble drying as it can cause shrinkage

• Do not over iron or have iron temperature too high as this will cause shine

DRESSING GOWNS, PYJAMAS & UNDERWEAR

CLOTHING

DO

• Always read the care label before washing and organise your laundry into groups with similar care instructions

DON'T

• Use too much detergent or detergents that contain bleach

• Do not tumble dry unless indicated on the care label

• Do not iron prints, trims or embellishments. If need be, iron on reverse or use a clean tea towel between the iron and garment

• Do not leave garments with white and contrast coloured panels soaking for prolonged periods.

FOOTWEAR

DO

• Invest in shoe trees – they allow recently worn shoes to contract and dry out to their ideal shape

• Visit a cobbler when shoes need to be resoled

• Polish your shoes – the little time you spend cleaning and polishing will be repaid by the extended lifespan

DON'T

• Put wet shoes near direct heat or a radiator – they may dry too quickly and cause the leather to crack. Instead push newspaper into the shoe and let it dry naturally

• Leave salt stains (from road gritting) on your shoes. Instead, remove them with a little vinegar and water

SUITS

DO

• Use a wishbone shaped hanger after wearInvest in a clothes brush and brush your suit after wear; this will stop dirt settling into the fabric

• Use a suit carrier for transporting suits and a cloth suit cover for when it is in the wardrobe

DON'T

• Wear the same suit day after day – a suit needs 24 hours to air and breathe

• Put the suit back in the closet straight after wear. Hang it in a well-ventilated area so any moisture in the wool dissipates and the fibres spring back into shape
